ADHD

ADHD stands for Attentional Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It is characterised by a pervasive and persistent inability to remain focused on tasks and to control impulsive behaviors. It is a neuro-developmental issue that begins in childhood and it can last into the adult years.

With ADHD there is an emphasis on either inattentiveness, hyperactivity (both large motor, and/or small motor movement) or impulsivity, or a combination of 2 or more.

Being unable to retain focus on necessary tasks can result in poor academic performance, distractions in the classroom or workplace, with accompanying forgetfulness, missing important details, and even anxiety or social stress.

Being unable to control impulsive behaviors can lead to difficulty in doing quiet activities, the inability to remain seated or still, excessive talking and interrupting others which can result in social stress.

Children and adults with ADHD can achieve enormous success in life with the right interventions and support.

How can getting my child’s birth chart done help me help my child?

Knowlege is power. Learning more about how your child relates to the world and where their strengths lie can help you orient your child toward useful coping mechanisms that will help offset their attention issues and help them learn to channel that energy more productively.

Seeing where your child excels and where they find challenges can help them better navigate the world around them. It can also assist them to better deal with how they feel about themselves.
