Working With Your Child’s Strengths and Challenges

Helping children grow academically, socially and emotionally has been a heartfelt mission of mine throughout my life. I have worked in public and private education as a teacher, across all school grades, for more than 4 decades. Kids with special needs and their families occupy an extra soft place in my heart for their courage to help their child navigate their world. Most often, families are on a poignant journey, accompanied by challenging emotions, especially at the beginning of the journey.

I have a Master’s Degree in Learning Disabilities (Kindergarten -12th grade) and for most of my career, I worked at a cutting edge school with wise mentors, where work was done collaboratively, using the latest brain-based research teaching methods and approaches. This support enabled me to zero in on the strengths and challenges of my students.  Although I am now retired, I continue to tutor and stay abreast of the latest developments in this field.

While studying for my advanced degree, I also rekindled my interest in astrology. Over the course of more than 4 decades, I have learned and studied from the best. Also, beginning 6 years ago, I mentored with Steven Forrest, an internationally well-known evolutionary astrologer. My belief is that evolutionary astrology is an effective, positive and complementary tool for parents of a child with special needs. While both education and astrology look at a child’s strengths and challenges, your child’s birth chart can highlight a deeper, and broader view into your child as a learner, communicator, family member, worker, friend, and goal setter. A birth chart can address any number of concerns.

For example:

  • What would be most motivating for my child?

  • What would naturally improve their self-worth?

  • Does my child have an untapped ability?

  • What is upsetting for my child?

  • What would bring my child greater contentment?

  • What strategies might best address specific challenges?

  • What are my child’s most important life lessons?

Astrology is a comprehensive quide for answering these questions, and others you may have. It can also shed light on the effectiveness of parenting approaches. Each child deserves the most broadly informed support we can give them.

Like a finger print, each child has their own unique gifts and challenges. Whether your child is gifted, on the autism spectrum, has a physical or medical challenge, struggles with motor, social or emotional skills, or has a learning disability or learning difference, just know that these are just labels. Your child isn’t a label. Your child, like all children, is on a sacred journey to becoming more than the IEP can suggest. There is so much more that can be known.

My experiences as a teacher working with children with learning differences informs and inspires my esteem and empathy for children and their parents. I approach each reading, each family, each child from that place.

I am a mother and grandmother who enjoys singing with my fiance. I also enjoy gardening and needle crafts. I am retired as a full-time special education teacher, but I continue to tutor and also practice astrology with over 4 decades experience in both fields. I've lived in the North, the West and the South. I'm a go-with-the-flow kind of individual, but I also have a strong work ethic. My time with my loved ones and friends is essential to me, as well as sufficient time with myself. I am a strong advocate for any child.

Special Needs Kids

We all have special challenges and struggles that we face in different ways. Some challenges are more hidden, and some are more impactful, but we all need help with something, no matter what the age.

If you are exploring this website, your child (or a child you know) is struggling and you want to help. An astrological look at your child can help you see your child as a whole, despite their special need. It can help you to better understand your child’s unique situation. It can shed light on your next steps.

Choose Your Chart

The process: After you send your child’s birth data (day, place and time of birth), the time and space coordinates will be plotted by a computer program into a birth chart called a natal chart. A 6-step process will be used to interpret the chart. Finally, we can arrange for an online video session. It is recommended that you record the session as there will be an hour’s worth of detailed information to remember. A recording can be provided if needed.

Additionally, there are other types of astrology charts that can supplement the natal birth chart. These charts speak to maturation and development, timing and interaction with others. Click below to learn more about the various charts and how they can further your understanding.
